Program Definition: Community Access services are for people with developmental disabilities ages 62 and older who have retired and choose not to work. Services will assist individuals to participate in activities, events and organizations in the local community in ways similar to others of retirement age. This may include volunteer activities, special assistance and education individualized to address growth and interaction needs and desires of persons with disabilities.
Services are to be provided that promote natural environments. Services are to promote greater involvement in the community for adults with severe developmental disabilities and over the age of 62 by providing programs that focus on personal independence, behavior change, community access, life enrichment and use of generic facilities and generic resources.
We will help you identify interests and goals that will help connect you to your community.
Provide the support you need to participate in clubs, organizations, or leisure activities.
Help you to identify other forms of support such as family, and friends to increase retirement opportunities for leisure time.
It is important that you participate in the planning and identified activities in order to get the best possible benefits of this program.
Communication with your provider and your team is critical to the success of the program.
GOAL: To assist participants to enjoy activities and participate in events and organizations that other retirees enjoy.
Retirement activities could be: Bowling Swimming Fishing Hiking Exercise Visiting the Park Eating out Picnics Volunteering
Entrance Criteria and Qualifications: • Developmental Delay • Sixty-two years of age or older • Funding through Developmental Disabilities, County Health and Human Services, or Private pay.
Hours of Service: 9:00 AM -7:00 PM Sunday through Saturday
